SRTS Annual Plan

2017/18 and 2018/19 Funding Update

CUSD was granted SRTS funding this year as of February 1, 2018. SMCOE entered into a new funding cycle with C/CAG this year, and since the federal fiscal year begins in October, funds were delayed this school year by 8 months. Due to this delay, the decision was made to grant funds through the next school year (2018/19). The funds granted are significantly lower than in the past.

This October, six CUSD schools participated in International Walk to School Day.
In March, SRTS partnered with El Granada Dolphin Club to schedule a 2-Day YBike Program for Dolphin Club. Dolphin Club funded the program due to late SRTS funding.
SRTS coordinated a Family Bike Event at Moonridge Community on April 4th. The Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) provided a free bike safety presentation and bike skills course. Lucille Packard Children's Hospital donated over 50 helmets and SVBC provided helmet fittings for Moonridge children. YBike donated their time to fix about 20 bicycles, and SRTS funded the bicycle parts and reflective accessories. HMB Library gave away free books and offered a fun bike-related craft. The Sheriff's Activities League and Moonridge management provided refreshments.
SRTS participated in the Dia del Niño event at Moonridge on April 27th, providing a bike-powered spin art activity for the children.
SRTS worked with the City of Half Moon Bay and the Sheriff's Activities League (SAL) to schedule bike-related activities for this year's Youth Summit. Due to lack of SRTS funding, SAL funded the activities this year. SRTS provided supplies for the Blender Bike smoothies, and New Leaf donated the frozen fruit.
SRTS is seeking grant opportunities to fund the HMBHS Lewis Foster Drive Pathway, Solar Lighting Project. The City of Half Moon Bay has granted a Coastal Development Permit exemption.
SRTS worked with the Cunha Intermediate staff and the City of Half Moon Bay to install a 3-way STOP at Church and Miramontes Street to improve safety for students. This project is partially completed.
As part of an ongoing collaboration between CUSD/HMBHS and the City of Half Moon Bay, safety improvements are underway at the crossing on Main St. and Lewis Foster Drive, and should be completed by the end of June.
Four schools participated in National Bike to School Day on May 9th.
This year, the Safe Routes to School Coordinator represented CUSD on the City's Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC). Follow this link to view the draft plan that has been posted.
