Technology in the Learning Environment

Technology Guide

As CUSD continues to implement technology as an integral part of the learning environment at all grade levels, our efforts are focused on the following goals:

  • Increase Student Access: Expanding the availability of computers and other educational technologies to students.
  • Develop Staff Expertise: Enhancing the skills and knowledge of our staff to effectively integrate technology into their teaching.
  • Curriculum Development: Defining and building curriculum guidelines and exemplary activities that incorporate technology.
  • Technical Support: Providing comprehensive technical support at each site.

The tech staff supports over 250 computers and 3000 mobile devices used by 3100 users, which includes 300 staff members and 2800 students. We provide support for district and school offices as well as 176 classrooms.

Our applications include:

  • Email for all staff
  • Google Apps for Education
  • Student Information System (PowerSchool)
  • Learning Management System (Schoology)
  • Data tools (Unified Insight & Performence Matter)
  • Communication tools (School Messenger)
  • Library, food service, and curricular databases

Additionally, we manage technology issues related to construction, purchasing, and recycling of equipment. Our responsibilities also include website management, compliance with state and federally-mandated data and testing services, and providing data for grants and fiscal reports.

The technology department is dedicated to supporting the educational mission of CUSD by ensuring that all students and staff have the tools and support they need to succeed in a technology-rich learning environment.

Donations

Cabrillo Unified schools are very grateful for all the offers of technology donations that we receive. To maintain a reasonable level of consistency and performance in the district's equipment, we accept computers and peripherals that integrate with the district's ability to service and maintain our many computers, printers, and networks they use. Therefore, donations need to be pre-approved.

If you have questions or need further assistance, please contact one of the technology staff.

All accepted donations will receive a letter of confirmation for tax purposes. After you have received donation approval from the Technology Office, be sure to leave your name, business, and address with your equipment when you drop it off. For donations that we do not accept, you might try contacting other area non-profits, or a recycling center such as CRC.
