Transition from Measure I

Transition from Measure I

Measure I, approved in 2020, is a $150 annual parcel tax supporting Cabrillo Unified School District until FY 2027-28. These funds have been vital for:

  • Retaining highly qualified teachers.
  • Maintaining strong academic programs in reading, writing, and STEAM.
  • Preparing students for success in high school, college, and careers.
  • Enhancing school safety and security.

Measure N builds on Measure I's foundation, increasing funding and broadening support for key district initiatives.

For more details, refer to Resolution #10-2024, passed by the Governing Board on November 5, 2024.

Parcel Tax Exemption for Measures I & N

Citizens age 65 years and older, as well as individuals with disabilities receiving SSI or SSDI, receiving an exemption from the parcel tax continue to be eligible for an exemption. When submitting SSI/SSDI exemptions, please provide proof of eligibility every year once you have applied and are approved. If you submitted an application for Measure I, you will continue to receive an exemption for Measure N.

The Citizens' Oversight Committee (COC) is responsible for ensuring all funds are spent as promised (details above).  The Committee achieves this by reviewing expenditures and presenting a written report to the Board and public annually.  Per bylaws, the Committee is comprised of one representative from the business community; one from a senior citizens organization; one from a bona fide taxpayer's organization, a parent or guardian of a child currently enrolled in the school district, and one at least one member who has a child in the district and is a part of the PTA or school site council.
